Janet Shaw- Beyond the Red Door

Janet Shaw was born with a rare eye cancer, Retinoblastoma, resulting in the loss of her left eye at age thirteen months, and limited vision in her right. But living with vision impairment wasn t the only challenge for Janet. As an adopted child, she battled with the need to know who she was. Her quest for identity sent her on a roller-coaster ride, as she faced the real possibility of rejection. And on top of this, Janet discovered that she carried a genetic time bomb, a bomb that kept ticking even when the childhood cancer had gone. This inspirational and moving story of struggle and triumph shows that Janet could not be restrained by the first red door she encounters at the blind school.
